Our inner five year old holds onto a firm belief that nothing beats a tasty slice of low priced pizza. We’ve given piping hot volcano pizzas a whirl at Kaffi Krús in Selfoss, Iceland and shoveled down loads of delicious dough doused with homemade spicy chili oil at Tricycle Pizza in Monterey, California. If you can’t book a flight to Italy pronto, everyone knows the city so nice they named it twice (NYC baby) is the place to go for savory Italian food and 2 Bros. Pizza serves up some of the yummiest one dollar meals in Manhattan.

2 Bros. Pizza is lean and mean. It’s squished into a narrow shop with a half a dozen or so tables piled in the back. There’s no fuss, plenty of crumbs and absolutely no eating on the counter.

Clearly we’re pizzaterians. Here are some of our favorite places on the planet to show off our pizza pride.

There are a total of ten 2 Bros. Pizza locations sprinkled across Bronx, Brooklyn, Chelsea, East Village, Flatiron, Harlem, Midtown, Port Authority, Times Square and the West Village. They focus on doing one thing and only one thing really well. There are no calzones or meatballs on 2 Bros. Pizza’s menu, just pizza pizza pizza.

At 2 Bros. Pizza they typically keep the same items in heavy rotation. You can order by the slice or the pie. We tried a slice of the broccoli and chicken as well as a piece of the pepperoni and sausage. Both slices were chock full of toppings and had substantial crusts.

In addition to 2 Bros. Pizza, here’s a list of other neat little local spots we love across New York.

On any given day your options might consist of plain old cheese, extra cheese, black olive, Hawaiian (ham and pineapple), a meat lover pie, a meat supreme pie (ham, sausage and veggies) mushroom, pepperoni, sausage, sausage and pepperoni, veggies, a white pie and a white pie with broccoli. You can also go chicken specific (regular chicken, barbecue, Buffalo or chicken and broccoli) or add items like ricotta to your triangle of love.

With menu items ranging from a dollar to four dollars per slice, 2 Bros. Pizza can be a zoo during heavy traffic times like lunch. It can also be a bit of a dinner and a show type of people watching experience late in the evening when the lines tend to swell and grow a bit grittier. Complaints can be kept at a minimum though when you consider cheese slices are only a dollar and two slices of cheese plus a can of soda will only set you back $2.75. (With dinner that cheap the shops on Fifth Avenue better watch out because here we come.) Plus who knows who you’ll bump into when you’re at 2 Bros. Pizza, Tracy Morgan (of 30 Rock and What Men Want fame) has allegedly popped by the Flatiron location.
