When you think of Belgium, images of moules frites and pints of beer may immediately begin dancing around your head, but the Western European country has so much more to offer. While exploring Brussels (or Bruxelles in French) you can document all sorts of oddities with your smartphone. There are statues of kids and dogs peeing as well as tributes to where Peter the Great decided to deposit his vomit.

If you decide to avoid the well trampled tourist route, as we chose to do, you might opt instead to check out the crazy cool fashion Belgium has to offer. Belgium is, after all, home of the Antwerp Six. (Six of the famous graduates of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp include Ann Demeulemeester, Dirk Bikkembergs, Dirk Van Saene, Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck and Marina Yee.) One of our favorite stops for pre-loved fashion in Brussels is Isabelle Bajart.

Isabelle Bajart has been around for a decade. Its three dedicated employees switch out the lovely items in the store every day, so each time you visit the boutique has a fresh look.
Clearly we have a passion for all things fashion. Here are some of our favorite beautiful boutiques in the world.
Should you find yourself on the hunt for impeccably well curated vintage clothing, you need look no further than Isabelle Bajart.

The shop pays close attention to current fashion trends and the seasons. (So come peak wedding season, or when the end of the year holiday party festivus arrives, you’re likely to find the store stocked with elegant dresses you can rule the dance floor with.)

One of the many unique things about the shop (in addition to its killer spiral staircase), is that Isabelle Bajart actually owns all of the pieces. Whereas most secondhand and vintage shops simply consign pieces, Isabelle Bajart actually owns each piece outright.

This means Isabelle Bajart puts its money where its mouth is. If they truly believe in a fashion find, they shell out their own cash for it first before presenting it to potential buyers.

Helpful Hint – Head all the way to the back of the boutique where you’ll find covetable pieces like vintage Chanel jackets. The back patio view is just as stunning as some of the accessories, so be sure to sneak a peek at the pretty water fountain you can spy from Isabelle Bajart’s back window.

Whether you’re looking to avoid the throngs of waffle eating tourists or just on a hunt for that perfect pair of pre-owned sunglasses, Isabelle Bajart is one fashion oasis you won’t want to miss.
