Sadly we found out that La PanotiQ’s Mountain View location permanently closed its doors. La PanotiQ is a local chain which may still have other locations open. We’re disheartened to hear that this neighborhood favorite didn’t make it, but here’s a list of other neat little local spots we love in the San Francisco Bay Area that you can support.
Portmanteaus string together the sound and the meaning of different words. Blending together the words breakfast and lunch results in glorious brunch. There are also infamous celeb couple portmanteaus (or maybe they’re curses) like Brangelina and Bennifer. Portmanteaus are responsible for everything from the motorcycle (a hybrid of motorized and bicycle) to labradoodles and Sharknado. Combine a Parisian bakery café and pop it in the Bay Area and you end up with La PanotiQ. (In case you were wondering, La PanotiQ’s portmanteau is intended to refer to a “library of panoramas.”)

La PanotiQ has a handful of locations sprinkled throughout Silicon Valley. The Bay Area chain is owned by the Guterman family and is inspired by the rich French pastry experience the family encountered during its time overseas. Daughter Maria Guterman serves as the CEO while her father Mikhail Guterman and his wife Natalya serves as the founders and owners.

In the patisserie case you’ll encounter everything from beautiful beignets…

…to tiny bite sized pieces of France.

La PanotiQ also offers a robust menu filled with hearty sandwiches. For veggie lovers there’s the Provence which features roasted zucchini, roasted peppers, tomato, lettuce, avocado and a homemade cheese spread.
In addition to La PanotiQ, here’s a list of other neat little local spots we love across the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.
If you prefer to keep things simple, its tough to beat the Parisian which boasts a humble, but tasty mix of ham and fresh natural French AOP butter (you can even add brie if you want).

La PanotiQ bakes bread three times daily making it easy for you to get your paws on its fresh loaves. Locally roasted java is delivered to La PanotiQ by Bicycle Coffee Co. out of Oakland and boy do those handcrafted cappuccinos go down well with La PanotiQ’s tantalizing sweets.

In addition to sandwiches and sweets, you’ll also find salads as well as brunch options (including house made granola and decadent French toast) on the menu. There are even savory offerings like ratatouille and risotto al formaggio, just make sure you pace yourself and save room for dessert.

La PanotiQ’s dessert and pastry offerings change daily. It is possible to order full sized cakes as long as you call ahead and give 24 to 72 hours advance notice of your order.

Whether you’re in need of a mini Parisian staycation or a flavorful brunch, La PanotiQ’s stunning parade of flavors aims to satiate Bay Area Francophiles.
