Sadly we found out that La PanotiQ’s Mountain View location permanently closed its doors. La PanotiQ is a local chain which may still have other locations open. We’re disheartened to hear that this neighborhood favorite didn’t make it, but here’s a list of other neat little local spots we love in the San Francisco Bay Area that you can support.

 

It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of La PanotiQ, the family owned bakery and café. Whether we’re in desperate need of a cappuccino or a delightful pastry to cheer us up, La PanotiQ (along with Mademoiselle Colette and Voyager du Temps) is one of our go-to coffee pit stops in Silicon Valley. The local mini chain has seven locations sprinkled throughout the Bay Area that serve French pastries, breakfast and lunch.

La PanotiQ is quickly becoming our favorite neighbor because of its popular third Thursday wine tastings which are free to attend. The events combine tasty French treats with sips of wine.

La PanotiQ’s next free food and wine pairing will be held this Thursday, October 19th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. You can sign up for this Thursday’s free event at the Mountain View location here. (The first 50 people who RSVP to La PanotiQ’s event will be entered into a raffle to win $20 gift cards to the café. More details can be found on the sign up page for the event.)

When we attended the event we had an opportunity to try La PanotiQ’s deliciously creamy risotto made with white wine, Emmental cheese and button mushrooms.

There was also a wonderful assortment of stunningly pretty bite sized treats to munch on.

Along with wines from Napa Valley’s Fortnight winery and a French sauvignon blanc called La Petite Perrière, there was also a bouncy rosé from Oregon’s Portlandia that we got to sip.

We finished our free tour off with some decadent chocolate bonbons La PanotiQ whipped up. If you can’t make this week’s event, La PanotiQ Mountain View should have another event in November. (If we did our third Thursday math right, that would make it Thursday, November 16th.) If you’ve had a rough week, we suggest you save the date for a free staycation to France this Thursday.
