With bustling Kraków to the west and the quaint painted village of Zalipie to its north, Tarnów, Poland is perhaps best known for its close proximity to its better known neighbors.

The medieval city is pretty in its own right replete with an elegant old market square (stary rynek), cobblestone streets and delicious ice cream. Marvelous ice cream and sweet baked treats get whipped up daily by the magicians at Ciekawa Słodko-Słono in Tarnów.

At Ciekawa Słodko-Słono you can taste test a number of Polish delights including drożdżówka which is a bit like a sweet roll that got crossed between a coffee cake and a pastry.

The drożdżówka at Ciekawa Słodko-Słono are typically in a U shape or a roll.

This quaint cozy ice cream shop also serves a wide variety of breakfast items, salty snacks and traditional rolls.

The main reason to pass through Ciekawa Słodko-Słono’s doors is the because of its beautiful desserts. Ciekawa Słodko-Słono touts itself as, “Jedyne Bubble w Tarnowie” (the only bubble in Tarnów). You can order everything from a ciasteczkowy potwór (which consists of a bubble waffle, whipped cream, two scoops of ice cream, cookie crisps and chocolate) to the owocowo mi (bubble waffle, whipped cream, two scoops of ice cream, seasonal fruit and strawberry glaze).

While some members of our crew opted for more traditional filling lunch options, like sandwiches, we dove face first into our bubble waffle ice cream cone.

If you don’t have a sweet tooth, you can also opt for a bubble waffle sandwich filled with everything from ham to mozzarella and arugula.

Each bubblownic (bubble waffle) takes about ten minutes to make, so having a bit of patience will serve you well.

If you’re struggling to fight off a bit of jet lag as you drive around the Polish countryside, Ciekawa Słodko-Słono also serves up coffee drinks.
Clearly we have a soft spot in our hearts for ice cream. Curious about other crazy ice cream flavors we’ve taste tested around the globe? Here are some of our favorite ice cream places in the world.
Whether you’re cruising through Tarnów on your way to another destination or if you’re spending a day or two strolling around this quaint Polish city, Ciekawa Słodko-Słono’s coffee and ice cream shop is the perfect place to get fueled up.
