For all of Silicon Valley’s fresh sushi (including the wicked Flamin’ Hot Cheetos sushi rolls over at Sushi Confidential) and delicious California cuisine (we could eat macho salads at Los Altos Grill every day), it can be difficult to figure out where to head when you’re want east coast grub in the Bay Area. If it’s lunch time and you’re craving raw oysters, clam chowder or that New England staple that could practically be a symbol of summer in its own right… a good old lobster roll, Rustic House Oyster Bar & Grill in Los Altos, California can give you a quick hit of that east coast flavor you’ve been pining for.

Rustic House Oyster Bar & Grill swung open its doors in Los Altos for the first time earlier this year. It joins a slew of fabulous new hot spots (including Asa, Honcho, Morsey’s Farmhouse Kitchen and Voyageur du Temps) that all decided to call Los Altos home over the past few years.

In addition to Rustic House Oyster Bar & Grill, here’s a list of other neat little local spots we love across the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

This crowd of new restaurant faces is helping create a fresh new foodie vibe that’s been a welcome addition to lovely downtown Los Altos.

The Rustic House family is made up of four restaurants sprinkled across the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to the Los Altos location they own three additional restaurants in San Carlos: another branch of the Rustic House Oyster Bar & Grill, The Office and 3 Pigs.

Wondering what the fork you should eat for dinner tonight? Curious about some of the other amazing grub spots we’ve tried around the globe? Here are some of our favorite restaurants around the world.

Bryan Godfrey is the general manager of the Los Altos location. He also used to manage one of our other favorite grub spots which is Scrambl’z in San Jose. We headed to Rustic House Oyster Bar & Grill on a sunny week day for lunch and found the service to be attentive and on point. Our lobster roll was a smashing success (the fries are delightful thick cut wedges) and the sautéed prawn and avocado salad was light, but filling. The next time we’re hankering for a staycation that gives us the flavor of a mini New England adventure, you’ll likely find us camped out on the patio at Rustic House Oyster Bar & Grill.
