Solid diners and homestyle breakfasts are a dime a dozen, but a greasy spoon has to be insanely good in order to wriggle into your regular breakfast or brunch rotation. Each week Scrambl’z in San Jose, California breaks 20,000 eggs and it squeezes 10,000 oranges, proof perhaps that it’s already a Sunday institution for many Silicon Valley residents.

Tomorrow Scrambl’z opens a new location at 6:30am on The Alameda complete with a bus booth. (Helpful Hint: You can reserve the bus booth ahead of time by contacting Scrambl’z before you pop in. There is a one hour time limit for the bus booth and it seats up to four people.)

Tuesday, July 11th through Thursday, July 13th will be Scrambl’z sneak preview before it officially throws its doors all the way open to the public this Friday, July 14th.

Lucky for us, we got a chance to see the new Scrambl’z in all its glory during its pre-opening party.

Part of what makes Scrambl’z so likely to be a success in its new spot is the attention to detail that the owners put into decorating The Alameda location.

Owner Jim Angelopoulos hired the talented RefinedRefurbed squad to craft a unique and memorable atmosphere that blows just about any other Bay Area breakfast joint out of the water.
In addition to Scrambl’z, here’s a list of other neat little local spots we love across the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.
Founder and chief creator Chad Mitchell (a fellow Syracuse University alum and a personal friend by the way) was brought on in March and in a matter of months was able to design, secure and decorate Scrambl’z entire interior with whimsical touches and cheerful details that reveal themselves the longer you gaze at the walls.
One of our favorite nooks in the restaurant is the to-go counter replete with Dr. Seuss quotes and license plates from around the States. You can snag a loaf of Scrambl’z homemade banana bread to-go for just $5.00.

Outside there’s an ample patio with a fun mural. Whether you’re five years old or fifty, Scrambl’z bright yellow and blue themed restaurant is sure to brighten your day.

We’re excited to welcome Scrambl’z to the ‘hood and look forward to staring at the walls while chowing down on a Sonoma chicken Benedict (which consists of battered chicken breast and blanched greens served over a toasted English muffin, poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce) and a glass of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice with mint garnish sometime very soon. Maybe we’ll see you there.
