When attempting to keep an adult away from their bottle (of wine), I often find that coffee meetings do the trick. Luckily for those of us who live and work in Silicon Valley, Blue Bottle Coffee has some of the best adult sippy cups on offer if you’re searching for the perfect morning or mid afternoon brew.

Silicon Valley is Perhaps Best Known as Being Home to Tech Titans and the San Francisco 49ers

Blue Bottle has locations sprinkled throughout the Bay Area, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo, but the brand hails from Oakland. Blue Bottle is perhaps most famous for its killer logo, but it also has established a reputation for a historic vow that its founder, James Freeman, made in the early 2000s to shop patrons when it first opened its doors. Blue Bottle’s take is simply that, “I will only sell coffee less than 48 hours out of the roaster to my guests, so they may enjoy coffee at peak flavor. I will only use the finest, most delicious, and responsibly sourced beans,” according to its website.

Java Joint – Bay Area’s Blue Bottle Coffee

In the morning (in Silicon Valley speak this might typically mean the hours between 8:00am and 10:00am for sales folks and 11:00am to 1:00pm for engineering types), an army dressed in hoodies and designer denim can often be found spilling out onto University Avenue.

In addition to Blue Bottle Coffee, here’s a list of other neat little local spots we love across the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

Blue Bottle’s Palo Alto outpost is housed inside the historic Varsity Theatre which was revitalized as part of a joint effort between Blue Bottle and HanaHaus.

Bring a Bit of Blue Bottle Buzz Home

If standing in a long line seems like a bit of a caffeine buzz kill for you, Blue Bottle offers a variety of classes that range from free to $12.00 per person. The Palo Alto location hosts brew and coffee cupping classes on Thursday afternoons. Consider it a life skill you’d be learning at Blue Bottle since obviously coffee is the most important meal of the day.
