If you’re on the hunt for firm juicy lobster stuffed to the brim of a roll that’s about to burst, then head to the Yankee Lobster Company in the heart of the Boston’s Seaport district. Since 1950, the Zanti family has been scouring the seas for delicious shellfish. Today Frank Zanti and Michael Zanti continue to manage the family business. You’ll find everything from seafood stew and clam chowder to lobster bisque and whole belly fried clams on the menu at the Yankee Lobster Company, but it’s tough to beat their traditional lobster roll.

In addition to our lobster roll, we also snagged a piping hot basket of fried clam strips and delicious fries. The clam strips were perfectly done and we’d happily order another basket next time we’re in Boston.

We washed our seafood down with a Ballast Point grapefruit sculpin. The tart IPA from San Diego paired perfectly with our East coast fish market festivus.

Our favorite thing about our visit to Yankee Lobster Company was playing with our food beforehand. Giant tanks in the back of the restaurant hold live crabs and lobsters. (The lobsters range in size from around one pound all the way up to eight pounds.)

If you ask nicely, the staff is more than happy to let you peek behind the scenes, so you can see the tanks and the critters inside.
